Overview

This certificate introduces both manual and computerized bookkeeping systems while building spreadsheet, database and file management skills. Students produce business documents that mirror real workplace needs and become familiar with a complete year-long business cycle, gaining skills suited to offices that require a range of administrative functions.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: The Bookkeeping Specialty Certificate requires a minimum grade of C+ (65%) in one of Composition 11, Literary Studies 11, New Media 11, EFP Literary Studies + New Media 11, EFP Literary Studies and Writing 11, English - Advanced Level, or English - Provincial Level (Essential English), plus a minimum grade of C (60%) in one of Foundations of Mathematics 11, Workplace Mathematics 11, or Mathematics - Advanced/Business-Technical/Developmental Level. Applicants must also pass a keyboarding assessment of 30 gross words per minute with three or fewer errors across three 3-minute timings, or complete OFAD 155 Keyboarding 1 first. Secondary-school graduation or equivalent, or an acceptable College of the Rockies assessment result, is recommended.

Application Deadline: Domestic and international applicants to College of the Rockies both apply through EducationPlannerBC. For the 2027-28 academic year the general application window opens 1 November 2026, and applications received by 28 February 2027 get priority processing for Fall 2027 entry; admission is otherwise rolling with no fixed closing date. International applicants get a decision about two weeks after a complete application, with no separate published international deadline. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing is competitive-entry: its window runs 1 November 2026 to 15 February 2027, with final transcripts due 28 February 2027 for Fall 2027 admission. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
