Cert in Accounting

The Accounting Certificate is designed for students who want to sharpen their professional accounting skills or work toward a professional accounting designation. It suits students who hold a non-accounting degree and need to complete prerequisite coursework for Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (CPAO) requirements and for entry into the CPA Professional Education Program. Coursework covers financial and management accounting, financial statement reporting, personal and corporate income taxation, and advanced financial applications. The certificate is offered on a full-time or part-time basis, with Fall, Winter, and Summer start terms, and can be completed by current York students or by new applicants to the university. Students typically pursue the certificate alongside another undergraduate degree or after completing one, building the technical accounting knowledge needed for professional certification pathways.
