Diploma in Sciences de la nature is a diploma in Natural Sciences programme offered by Collège Shawinigan in Shawinigan, Canada. The programme runs for 2 years. Teaching is in French. Tuition for international students is CAD 15,150 per year (CAD 3,740 per year for local students).
Sciences de la nature is a pre-university DEC at Cégep de Shawinigan covering chemistry, biology, mathematics, physics, and computing, aimed at preparing students for university-level science programs. Coursework emphasizes applying the scientific method through laboratory-based experimental work, with the goal of building analytical skill, curiosity, and the ability to interpret everyday phenomena and solve concrete scientific problems. The program is delivered as a Br@nché ('connected') program, meaning students use a personal laptop in both lecture and laboratory settings along with specialized science software. Three profiles are offered: Sciences de la santé, Sciences pures et appliquées, and a hybrid Sciences de la nature profile. All students complete a capstone research project near the end of the program; the page cites past examples such as a Fresnel solar furnace, superconductivity experiments, caffeine-content analysis in pre-workout supplements, and water-purification testing using UVC LEDs, developed with the college's specialized laboratory equipment. Teaching staff are described as providing close support during the transition from secondary school, with a dedicated study space reserved for the program. The pathway suits students planning to pursue university studies in fields such as health sciences, pure and applied sciences, or engineering, who enjoy hands-on experimentation and rigorous problem-solving.

Application Details
Application Deadline:Domestic (Quebec/Canadian) applicants apply through SRAM (admission.sram.qc.ca): for the Hiver (Winter) 2027 session the portal opened September 15, 2026, with Round 1 closing November 1, 2026 and Round 2 closing November 25, 2026; for Automne (Fall) 2027 entry, SRAM's fixed system-wide Round 1 cutoff is March 1, 2027, though the college has not yet posted 2027-specific Round 2/3 dates (Automne 2026 saw April 23 and May 28, 2026 for those rounds). International applicants face fixed, non-rolling SRAM deadlines instead of rounds: March 14 for Automne entry and May 31 for Hiver entry, with no exceptions once the date passes. Admission is therefore round-based for domestic candidates and firm for international ones. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
