Program details
Overview
This Bachelor of Fine Arts Major in Photography, offered by Concordia's Department of Studio Arts in the Faculty of Fine Arts, blends artistic vision with technical skill across both analog and digital practices, covering camera techniques, darkroom printing and digital workflows. The program emphasizes contemporary artistic creation over commercial photography and gives students access to analog and digital facilities. The Major requires 60 credits. Full-time study takes a minimum of three to four years (90-120 credits), with classes held on the Sir George Williams campus and admission only in the Fall term. Applicants submit a portfolio of 15-20 black-and-white and/or colour photographs demonstrating technical skill and conceptual development, plus a letter of intent addressing their background and goals. The program suits students pursuing a studio-based fine-art photography practice.
