Overview
This joint Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science specialization combines Actuarial Mathematics coursework in statistics, probability, and mathematical modelling with accounting, economics, and finance courses, preparing students to solve problems involving risk and support financial decision-making for corporations, communities, and investors. Graduates can gain exemptions from four preliminary professional exams of the Society of Actuaries. The program holds provisional accreditation from the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, and Concordia is designated a Centre of Actuarial Excellence by the Society of Actuaries. Full-time study takes a minimum of three to four years (90-120 credits) depending on the student's academic background, with classes on the Sir George Williams campus. A co-op option offers paid work terms with insurance companies and consulting firms. Admission is for the Fall term only, with a March 1 application deadline.
