Overview
Therapeutic Recreation prepares students to design and deliver leisure services for people with health challenges or disabilities, covering individual and societal influences on leisure behaviour, needs assessment, and the development, coordination and delivery of special events and programs, combined with fieldwork placements at community organizations to evaluate program outcomes. The program is offered as a 60-credit Specialization. Full-time study takes a minimum of three to four years (90-120 credits), with classes held on the Loyola campus in Montreal and admission in the Fall or Winter term. The program suits students pursuing careers in recreation therapy, community health, rehabilitation services or related fields.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Quebec CEGEP applicants need a 22 overall average; Ontario and other Canadian high-school applicants need a B- overall average (ACT or SAT not required); IB Diploma applicants need 27 points overall; university transfer applicants need a B- average. Concordia's institution-wide English proficiency minimum applies unless exempt: IELTS Academic 6.0 with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 70, or Duolingo 105. Fall applications are due March 1 and Winter applications November 1; U.S. and international applicants should apply earlier to allow time for immigration processing.
