Overview
You will gain a working knowledge of the medical terminology, computer technologies, and office practices vital to today's busy medical, dental, and wellness offices. Through hands-on application with industry Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software and simulated scenarios, you will practice a variety of medical and wellness office tasks such as patient scheduling, billing, and medical document production, as well as hone your professional verbal, written communication, and customer service skills.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Conestoga's Medical Office Practices certificate requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, or mature student status for applicants 19 or older by the program start, together with Grade 12 Compulsory English at C or U, or equivalent, or Conestoga's Preparatory Communications course (COMM1251), at a minimum of 65%. Academic strength is calculated as an average of the required subject marks, with ten bonus marks added for each Advanced-level, OAC, U, U/C or post-secondary course used. The admissions page also expects applicants to be able to touch-type to industry standard and to read and complete standard industry documents, alongside general computer and communication competence. Applicants whose prior education was not delivered in English must demonstrate proficiency under Conestoga's general policy, though no specific IELTS, TOEFL or PTE score is published; international transcripts require a course-by-course credential evaluation through an approved provider such as ICAS or WES.
