Overview

Working within the payroll function of a business requires a diverse set of skills along with specific knowledge of accounting, payroll and legislative applications to ensure all aspects of the payroll cycle and compliance elements are met. This part-time, online program will provide a solid foundation of the payroll functions within organizations and the skills required to perform the payroll and accounting tasks for manual and computerized systems. The program will also look at industry trends and best practices related to the compensation, benefits and payroll functions within organizations. Topics addressed will include the payroll cycle and related calculations, how to work with agencies to ensure compliance with all legislative and government requirements, and documentation processes.You will gain a solid foundation of payroll administration and will be able to perform payroll functions for various organizations working with specific accounting systems and processes utilized in Canadian businesses. Additionally, you will provide valuable contributions to your future roles based on your knowledge of standard computing applications and understanding of compensation and ethics within an organization.Courses in the Payroll Administration program prepare you for the PCP Designation with the National Payroll Institute. Requirements

Admission Requirements: This part-time continuing-education program admits applicants who hold an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or the equivalent, or who are 19 years of age or older and qualify under mature-student status; no additional named course prerequisites are listed on the program page. In place of a standardized test, the page states only that students must be able to receive instruction and respond and research in the English language, without publishing an IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or Duolingo score; Conestoga's general admission requirements likewise note that the college publishes no single domestic test-score table, leaving the required evidence to the individual program page. Applicants apply through Ontario Colleges (ontariocolleges.ca), and final selection is made following an assessment of the stated admission requirements.

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca (college code CONS): for the Fall 2027 intake the online application opens 26 September 2026, the equal consideration date is 1 February 2027, offers may be issued from 1 November 2026, and accepted offers must be confirmed by 1 May 2027; most oversubscribed programs stop accepting applications after 1 February 2027, though many programs remain open afterward. Conestoga does not publish a separate equal-consideration date for its January intake. International applicants apply directly to Conestoga and are assessed on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis until each program fills; no fixed international closing date is published. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
