Overview
Mobile and Web Development is a two-year, four-semester Ontario College Diploma delivered full-time at the Waterloo campus. The program prepares students for careers in software development with a focus on the differences between mobile and wearable computing platforms and traditional servers and desktops. Coursework covers specialized development frameworks, programming languages, and coding practices used to design and build purpose-built mobile applications, along with infrastructure services and cloud technologies used to support them. Students work across multiple platforms, including tablet, smartphone, and wearable devices, and study software design methodologies applied to mobile and web projects. The program prepares graduates for industry positions in mobile and web development and provides a partial foundation toward industry development certifications such as Google Developer and Google Associate Android Developer.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or applicants may qualify as mature students at 19 years of age or older. The programme asks for Grade 12 compulsory English at a C or U level, or equivalent, or Conestoga's Preparatory Communications (COMM1250), plus Grade 12 Mathematics (MCT4C, MHF4U, MCV4U or MDM4U) at a C or U level, or Conestoga's Preparatory Mathematics for Technology & Apprenticeship (MATH1385). Published minimum grades are MCT4C 60%, MHF4U or MCV4U 50%, MDM4U 70%, and MATH1385 60%; applicants presenting only MAP4C are not considered unless they pass Conestoga's Math Pre-Admissions test. Canadian citizens and permanent residents with international transcripts require a course-by-course credential evaluation, and applicants whose prior institutions did not use English as the language of instruction must demonstrate English proficiency.
