Overview
Children's Mental Health Services is a one-year (two-term) Ontario College Graduate Certificate delivered in person at Conestoga's Kitchener - Doon campus. The program builds knowledge and skills for creating environments that support children's mental health and wellness, covering children's mental health services, legislation and human rights. Through coursework, simulations and a field placement, students examine how biological and social factors shape mental health, implement strategies to foster wellness in children and practise as reflective members of an interprofessional mental health team.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission to this Ontario College Graduate Certificate requires a College Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Degree from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent credential, in social science, human services, social work, early childhood education, or another community-focused field of study; no minimum grade average is published. As a graduate certificate, the program carries Conestoga's higher, graduate-certificate-band English-language requirement, applied where transcripts are not in English: IELTS Academic overall band 6.5 with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 88 with no skill below 22, PTE Academic 58, or CAEL 70 overall with no sub-test below 60. Canadian citizens and permanent residents with transcripts from outside Canada must have them assessed by a course-by-course credential-evaluation service such as ICAS or WES. The program page lists no interview, portfolio, or work-experience requirement beyond the stated academic credential.
