Overview

This postgraduate certificate builds knowledge and skills related to technological change and how digital technologies are reshaping libraries and their services, including the digital competencies needed to assess the opportunities and impact of current and emerging technologies within an organization. A capstone project, a culminating activity and ongoing active learning give students conceptual insight and practical leadership strategies for addressing digital technology issues in library and information settings, developing fluency skills for active participation across all types of libraries. It serves as ongoing professional development and gives college and university graduates a route to broaden their learning.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Conestoga's Libraries and Digital Technologies postgraduate certificate requires one of: a two- or three-year diploma or degree from an accredited college or university in Library and Information Technology; a master's degree in library science, library and information science, or information; graduation from the SOLS Excel, SOLS Advanced Excel, or APLL certificate programs; or a bachelor's degree combined with at least five years of library experience in a management or senior technical role. Where applicable, for applicants whose prior education was not in English, the program page itself publishes a full proficiency table: TOEFL iBT 88 overall with no skill below 22, IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, CAEL 70 overall with no sub-test below 60, PTE Academic 58, CELPIP 82 or higher, or Cambridge English 180 overall with no individual score below 170, or an equivalent standardized English test. Applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca, and final selection follows assessment against these credential and language conditions; no portfolio or interview is separately listed.

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca (college code CONS): for the Fall 2027 intake the online application opens 26 September 2026, the equal consideration date is 1 February 2027, offers may be issued from 1 November 2026, and accepted offers must be confirmed by 1 May 2027; most oversubscribed programs stop accepting applications after 1 February 2027, though many programs remain open afterward. Conestoga does not publish a separate equal-consideration date for its January intake. International applicants apply directly to Conestoga and are assessed on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis until each program fills; no fixed international closing date is published. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
