Overview

The Statistics and Computer Science major combines the Bachelor of Science curriculum in statistics with core computer science training. Students study data collection, analysis and interpretation methods used in image analysis, artificial intelligence, speech recognition and statistical modelling, alongside foundational computer science courses such as programming, software systems, algorithms and data structures. The program builds a strong mathematical background underpinning both disciplines. It is offered by the Faculty of Science, entered through the Physical, Earth, Math and Computer Sciences admission group. Complementary minors include Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics and Nanotechnology. Graduates commonly pursue roles such as application developer, artificial intelligence programmer, computer programmer, game developer, numerical analyst or software engineer. The program is delivered as a full-time undergraduate major leading to a Bachelor of Science degree.
