Program details

Overview

The Bachelor of Engineering is a four-year undergraduate degree, extending to five years with the co-op option, offered at Dalhousie's Halifax and Truro campuses. Students begin with a two-year Core Engineering Program covering mathematics, science, engineering science, and design before specializing in one of seven disciplines: Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Environmental, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering. Design projects run from first year through to a senior capstone project completed with an industry client. An optional five-year co-op stream provides paid work terms with more than 90 partner organizations. Truro-campus classes are described as averaging 20 to 30 students. The program is accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board and can be combined with a BSc or BA, or completed to a diploma after two years. It suits high-school graduates entering engineering who want the flexibility to customize their studies across disciplines and campuses.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Minimum overall average of 70% in five Grade 12 academic courses: Academic English 12, Pre-calculus Math 12, Academic Chemistry 12, Academic Physics 12, and one additional academic subject.
