Overview
This program leads to a Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Science through the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering at the University of Toronto. It follows a two-year foundation curriculum in mathematics, science, and engineering, described as more academically demanding than other engineering programs and built around deriving results from first principles, followed by a two-year specialization curriculum. In years three and four, students choose one of eight majors: Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Systems Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, Engineering Mathematics, Statistics & Finance, Engineering Physics, Machine Intelligence, Robotics Engineering, or Transportation Systems Engineering. All students complete an independent research-based thesis project and must accumulate 600 hours of practical experience before graduation, either through standard work terms or the Professional Experience Year co-op program. The curriculum also requires 2.0 complementary studies credits, including 1.0 credit in the humanities and social sciences. The program is described as preparation both for professional engineering careers and for postgraduate study in engineering or science, as well as for other professional degrees such as business, law, and medicine.

Admission Requirements: Undergraduate admission to U of T Engineering, including Engineering Science, is administered by the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering: Ontario applicants need an Ontario Secondary School Diploma with six 4U/M courses -- English (ENG4U), Advanced Functions (MHF4U), Calculus & Vectors (MCV4U), Chemistry (SCH4U), Physics (SPH4U) and one further 4U/M course -- completed within five years of entry. Meeting these minimums does not guarantee a seat: the Faculty also weighs academic performance and the mandatory Online (Engineering) Student Profile submitted with the application. International applicants present the equivalent senior secondary credential (IB, A Levels, AP, etc.) with the same subject prerequisites. Applicants whose first language is not English must submit an accepted test; the University's minimums are IELTS Academic 6.5 with no band below 6.0, or TOEFL iBT 89 overall with 22 in Speaking and Writing for tests before 21 January 2026, though the Faculty directs applicants to its own Discover Engineering site for any program-specific test acceptance or higher minimums.

Application Deadline:University of Toronto uses one application deadline for domestic and international applicants alike for Fall 2027 entry: 15 January 2027 for most programmes, including Applied Science & Engineering, Arts & Science (St. George), the iSchool, Kinesiology & Physical Education, Nursing, Physician Assistant, and UTM and UTSC, with supporting documents also due 15 January 2027 (Engineering) or 1 February 2027 (most others). Medical Radiation Sciences has an extended 1 February 2027 deadline. A recommended early-application date of 7 November 2026 applies across the board, and several programmes (Rotman Commerce, Computer Science, Architecture, Kinesiology) require a supplementary component due 1 February 2027. Admission decisions are released from January through late May; UofT does not describe any programme as rolling. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
