Overview
The Computing Science Associate Degree is an Associate of Science credential with a specialization in Computing Science, offered by Douglas College's Science and Technology faculty. Coursework introduces programming languages including Python and C++, alongside software engineering, data structures and algorithms, computer graphics and user interface design. The credential is a two-year, full-time program worth 60 transferable credits, of which at least 18 must be in Computing Science and nine of those at the second-year level. Graduation requires a minimum program GPA of 2.00 and at least half the coursework completed at Douglas College. Credits are designed to transfer to British Columbia's research universities (SFU, UBC, UBC Okanagan, UVic or UNBC) under the BC Transfer Guide, typically allowing entry into the third year of a related four-year bachelor's degree. Students may take an optional Co-operative Education stream, alternating study semesters with paid work terms. The program supports pathways into cloud computing, software development, artificial intelligence, game development and information science.
