The Mathematics Associate of Arts Degree is offered by Douglas College's Science and Technology faculty and combines mathematics coursework with a broad base of arts electives spanning English, humanities, social sciences and arts, developing critical thinking, writing, research, presentation and numeracy skills. The credential runs four semesters of full-time study, worth 60 transferable credits, of which at least 18 must be in Mathematics and nine of those at the second-year level; the remaining credits cover first- and second-year English, humanities, social sciences, arts and lab science electives. Graduation requires a minimum program GPA of 2.00 and at least half the coursework completed at Douglas College. Credits are designed to transfer to British Columbia's research universities (SFU, UBC, UBC Okanagan, UVic or UNBC) under the BC Transfer Guide, typically allowing entry into the third year of a related four-year bachelor's degree. Students may take an optional Co-operative Education stream, alternating study semesters with paid work terms.
