Psychiatric Nursing: Bachelor of Science Degree Completion (BSPN) is a bachelor's degree in Health Sciences programme offered by Douglas College in New Westminster, Canada. The programme runs for 3 years, delivered fully online. Teaching is in English. Tuition is CAD 26,400 per total for local students.
The completion program is delivered part-time and online for practising Registered Psychiatric Nurses finishing their degree, built around 33 credits that prepare generalists in psychiatric nursing. Study combines advanced psychiatric nursing concepts with associated coursework in arts and sciences, equipping graduates to work across a range of professional practice settings from a broad perspective, and preparing some for further study such as graduate programs. Required nursing courses are delivered online, while associated studies can be taken either online or in a classroom, and sufficient computer skills are needed to manage the online components. Students have up to six years from admission to finish the requirements, with a one-year extension available on request.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: A part-time degree-completion route for practising psychiatric nurses. REQUIRED: a current practising RPN licence; transcripts from every post-secondary institution attended; and an attestation letter from the institution that granted your Psychiatric Nursing diploma, stating any transfer credit it granted and used toward that diploma with the courses listed, and saying which courses on the transcript were not used to satisfy the diploma. Douglas sorts degree-completion applicants into three categories that decide what you still have to take: Douglas psychiatric nursing diploma graduates from the Winter 2009 semester onward; Douglas graduates from Fall 2008 or earlier together with diploma graduates from other institutions; and graduates of the Douglas Advanced Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing. Courses already counted toward the earlier diploma cannot be counted again toward the degree, and several of the listed courses carry their own prerequisites, so check the College Catalogue before registering. This programme page shows no international application block, so international applicants should confirm with Douglas International Admissions that it is open to them before applying; where it is, the college's separately published international academic and English standards apply on top of anything listed here.
Application Details
Start Date:September and January
Application Deadline:Douglas College publishes college-wide application windows rather than a single date for every programme, and the domestic and international timetables differ. Domestic applicants apply through EducationPlannerBC: for the 2027 entry cycle, Fall applications open 1 October 2026, Winter applications open 1 February 2026, and Summer applications open 1 June 2026; limited-enrolment programmes set no fixed close and shut once seats fill, while open-enrolment programmes stay open until 4:00 p.m. the Friday before the semester starts. International applicants apply directly to Douglas: Fall 2026 entry is now closed, Winter 2027 entry is accepted until 30 September 2026, and Summer 2027 entry until 31 January 2027. Admission is effectively rolling within each window until seats or the deadline are reached. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
