Overview
The Behaviour Intervention Certificate gives you the opportunity to work one-on-one with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in family homes or specialized centres through the Behaviour Intervention Certificate program at Douglas. You'll learn Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) methodology and how to use it in your work. Gain the knowledge, skills and values necessary to be an effective frontline practitioner and team member through this part-time, online program. You’ll be equipped as a Behaviour Interventionist who can implement behavioural support plans developed by a qualified Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) practitioner.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Beyond Douglas College's General College Admission Requirements, this Behaviour Intervention Certificate requires two professional reference letters attesting to the applicant's suitability, a current resume, and a letter of intent describing the applicant's reasons for choosing the programme, long- and short-term goals, and relevant strengths and limitations. A personal interview may also be required, at the department's discretion. Applicants who have completed 9 or more post-secondary credits must be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 1.5 (scale not stated) for admission to any Faculty of Applied Community Studies programme. Applicants must also meet the College's English Language Proficiency requirement (for example IELTS Academic overall 6.5, TOEFL iBT 83, PTE Academic 56, or Duolingo English Test 110).
