Overview
The Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care gives you the skills to support children, youth and families as a professional child and youth care worker. You'll take three practicums during your degree, with the third practicum being eight months long in a supervised child and youth care setting. You'll graduate ready to take on team leader or supervisory positions in your community. Grads find work in settings including schools, community centres, parent-child education settings, residential settings and programs for street-involved youth, addictions services.

Admission Requirements: Beyond Douglas College's general admission requirements and English Language Proficiency requirement (proof of English proficiency, met with IELTS Academic 6.5, TOEFL iBT 83, PTE Academic 56, Duolingo English Test 110, CAEL 60 or another option the college accepts), the Child and Youth Care bachelor's degree requires a current resume, a completed Child and Youth Care Entrance Questionnaire, and two reference letters from non-relatives attesting to the applicant's suitability for work in the field. Following an offer of admission, accepted applicants must complete a Criminal Record Check arranged through Enrolment Services before beginning the programme.
