Cert in Community Integration Through Co-Operative Education is a certificate in Social & Cultural Studies programme offered by Durham College in Oshawa, Canada. The programme runs for 4 semesters, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition for international students is CAD 15,489 per year (CAD 2,776 per year for local students).
The certificate offers modified programming that helps students with intellectual disabilities or significant learning challenges build academic and vocational skill. Core coursework shared by all students covers computer skills, self-awareness, self-advocacy, job skills and interpersonal communication, while additional courses come from elsewhere in Durham College's program offerings, selected to match a student's vocational interest. Three separate field placements add to vocational skill and community involvement.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Entry is for applicants who show academic needs calling for a modified program, alongside enough independence that constant support is not needed, and who hold either an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or an Ontario Secondary School Certificate, or qualify under Mature Student Status. The program is highly competitive and runs its own selection route: apply via the Ontario College Application Service by the 1 February equal-consideration deadline; submit the completed CICE additional application requirements package, including the CICE Supporting Documentation form; and, if shortlisted, attend a mandatory online intake assessment and an interview. Consideration goes to applicants who have not already enrolled in a CICE program, nor completed courses at the post-secondary level.
Application Details
Start Date:September intake - the only intake listed on this program's page. Classes begin 8 September 2026 in the current cycle.
Application Deadline:Domestic (apply at ontariocolleges.ca): equal-consideration date 1 February for a September start - 1 February 2026 covered the September 2026 intake and the same rule applies to the next September intake. Applications completed after the equal-consideration date are still accepted and assessed while seats remain. International: apply through Durham College's own international application, not ontariocolleges.ca; Durham publishes no general international closing date and directs applicants to the Intakes and Availability table on the program page. This program is on Durham's list of programs anticipated to be highly competitive: qualified applicants complete by the equal-consideration date are ranked on the average of four senior-level (Grade 11 or 12, C, M or U) prerequisite subjects. The program page adds that CICE applicants must also submit a completed CICE additional application requirements package and, if selected, attend a mandatory online intake assessment and interview.
