Overview
The Mechanical Engineering Technician – Non-Destructive Evaluation (fast-track) program is designed specifically for applicants with existing academic credentials. Students with a degree or diploma in a related field can add to their skill set or expand their knowledge of the non-destructive evaluation (NDE) industry and complete an advanced diploma and multiple NDT method and level training certificates in just two semesters. Students will learn about materials and specific testing methods in order to examine structures and components such as cars, trains, airplanes, spacecraft, towers, bridges, ships, power plants and amusement park rides to name a few to identify and analyze possible defects.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: This fast-track pathway variant admits applicants who already hold a completed college diploma or degree in engineering, industrial trades or the sciences. Applicants whose credential is more than ten years old may instead qualify via a minimum of three years of related industry experience, documented in a professional resume with a letter of intent, one post-secondary mathematics course, and three post-secondary courses drawn from physics, mechanics, quality, data analytics, process, systems, statistics, materials, chemistry, power, controls, CAD/engineering drawings, design, electricity or fluid. Every route requires proof of English language proficiency; the program page names no scores of its own. Applicants educated in a non-English-speaking country must meet Durham College's institution-wide policy, the certificate/diploma/graduate-certificate tier: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 88 with no section below 22, PTE Academic 53 with no section below 49, CAEL 60 with no section below 60, or Duolingo English Test 110 or higher.
