Québec applicants enter from the collegial system, normally with a DEC in the appropriate pre-university field; applicants schooled outside Québec apply through published equivalence routes by qualification (French baccalauréat, IB, OSSD and other Canadian provinces, US high school, classes préparatoires, prior university study, among others). Anyone who finished secondary school outside Québec with no subsequent post-secondary study first completes Polytechnique's integrated 30-credit preparatory year, extending the degree to five years.
