Overview
This graduate diploma (DESS) in Engineering Mathematics at Polytechnique Montreal is designed for bachelor's graduates in engineering, mathematics, or science who want to deepen their mathematical knowledge with applications in engineering. It is administered by the Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering. The program comprises 30 credits, with 24 to 30 credits from graduate-level courses and up to 6 credits from lower-level (numbered 4000 or below) courses. Students choose between two streams: an Applied Mathematics stream, in which all graduate-level credits are chosen from courses in operations research, statistics and probability, and numerical and applied analysis, covering at least two of the three areas with a minimum of 9 credits in each; and an Applied Sciences stream, in which 15 credits come from mathematics courses and the remaining 15 credits from courses in up to two other engineering or applied-science sectors with significant content on mathematical-tool applications. The program leads to the Diplome d'etudes superieures specialisees (DESS) en mathematiques de l'ingenieur.
