Program details
Overview
This program covers servicing, testing, troubleshooting and repairing aircraft and their systems on fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, in line with manufacturers' instructions, accepted aviation practices and Canadian aviation regulations. Students learn to evaluate aircraft structures and complete repair and assembly work, carry out scheduled and unscheduled inspections across structural, operational, communication, navigation, surveillance and flight-guidance systems, and remove, install and configure airframe and avionics components, including engines and power-plant accessories on turbine and piston aircraft. Further coverage includes diagnosing system faults using technical documentation, completing airworthiness directives and service-bulletin work, maintaining certification records, and applying quality-control and quality-assurance procedures alongside relevant safety regulations.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Competitive co-op program. Entry needs an OSSD, an equivalent, or mature-applicant status with Grade 12 English (C or U) and Grade 12 Math (C or U). Applicants who fall short are pointed to academic upgrading, with a conditional offer possible on proof of enrolment, or to the one-year Trades Fundamentals program, which supplies every entry requirement. English at certificate and diploma level: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band under 5.5, TOEFL iBT 79 pre-2026 (4.5 overall with no band under 4 on the 2026 scale), PTE Academic 53 with no band under 45, CAEL 60 with 50 per band and 80 in listening, Duolingo 105 with no sub-score under 95, Cambridge English 169, LanguageCert Academic 65. Selection where applicants exceed seats: preference for Ontario permanent residents, application received by 1 February, then achievement in the requirements. Grade 12 Transportation Technology (C) and Grade 11 or 12 Physics are recommended, and ACE students are advised to include a technical or apprenticeship mathematics course. Completing the preparatory program earns additional consideration but is not a guarantee of admission.
Application Details
Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: for Fall 2027 entry, applications open in early October 2026 and the equal-consideration date is 1 February 2027, after which later applications are assessed on a first-come basis until seats fill; non-competitive programs begin receiving offers from 1 November 2026, competitive-program offers go out by 30 March 2027, and 1 May 2027 is the usual deadline to accept an offer. International applicants apply directly to Fanshawe (CAD 100 fee) and face fixed document deadlines rather than a single closing date: for the current intakes, study-permit and conditions-met documents are due 10/15 August 2026 (Fall), 9/15 December 2026 (Winter) and 5/15 April 2027 (Summer); missing a deadline can mean deferral to the next intake. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
