Program details
Overview
This three-year advanced diploma prepares students to become pilots or managers within the airline industry. Coursework spans leadership, ethics, human factors, the aviation industry and flying operations more broadly, combined with flight-simulator training. Students log approximately 205 hours of flight training across simulators and aircraft.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Competitive flight program. Entry needs an OSSD, an equivalent, or mature-applicant status with at least 65% in Grade 12 English (C or U) and Grade 12 Math (C or U). Applicants who fall short are pointed to academic upgrading, with a conditional offer possible on proof of enrolment, or to the one-year Trades Fundamentals program taken at 65% or better. English is set higher than the diploma norm and Duolingo is not accepted for this program: IELTS Academic 7.0 overall with 6.5 in reading and listening and 7.0 in writing and speaking, TOEFL iBT 5.5 or better with no band under 5, PTE Academic 65, CAEL 70 in writing, reading and speaking with 80 in listening, Cambridge English 185. Selection where applicants exceed seats: preference for Ontario permanent residents, application received by 1 February, then achievement in the requirements. A Transport Canada Class 1 medical examination is a time-sensitive post-admission requirement: proof that you have applied for it is needed before the first class, and flight training cannot begin without it. Grade 11 or 12 Physics and a further Grade 12 mathematics are recommended.
Application Details
Start Date:September and January
Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: for Fall 2027 entry, applications open in early October 2026 and the equal-consideration date is 1 February 2027, after which later applications are assessed on a first-come basis until seats fill; non-competitive programs begin receiving offers from 1 November 2026, competitive-program offers go out by 30 March 2027, and 1 May 2027 is the usual deadline to accept an offer. International applicants apply directly to Fanshawe (CAD 100 fee) and face fixed document deadlines rather than a single closing date: for the current intakes, study-permit and conditions-met documents are due 10/15 August 2026 (Fall), 9/15 December 2026 (Winter) and 5/15 April 2027 (Summer); missing a deadline can mean deferral to the next intake. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
