Overview
Delivered online and part-time, this course looks at how health systems operate within Canada's complex healthcare environment, covering how healthcare institutions are governed, organized and run, alongside the ethical stewardship of health information. Students study the secure collecting, using and disclosing of records under legal, regulatory and professional standards, and examine leadership, communication and change management as they relate to data quality, privacy and system interoperability, across the full health information lifecycle.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: This is the online, part-time delivery of Health Systems Management and shares the parent program's admission requirements: a two- or three-year college diploma or a degree, preferably in Health Sciences, Information Technology or Mathematics, with other backgrounds considered case-by-case; applicants lacking a formal credential may instead present an acceptable combination of related work experience and post-secondary education judged equivalent by the College. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet one of: IELTS Academic overall 6.5 (no band below 6.0); TOEFL iBT overall 5 (no band below 4.5); CAEL overall 70 (no band below 60); PTE Academic minimum 58 (no band below 50); Cambridge English overall 176 (no skill below 169); ESL4/GAP5 80% at Level 9 or 75% at Level 10; Duolingo overall 120 (no component below 105); or LanguageCert Academic overall 70 (no skill below 65). No minimum GPA, portfolio or interview is stated.
Application Details
Start Date:January and May (part-time online)
Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: for Fall 2027 entry, applications open in early October 2026 and the equal-consideration date is 1 February 2027, after which later applications are assessed on a first-come basis until seats fill; non-competitive programs begin receiving offers from 1 November 2026, competitive-program offers go out by 30 March 2027, and 1 May 2027 is the usual deadline to accept an offer. International applicants apply directly to Fanshawe (CAD 100 fee) and face fixed document deadlines rather than a single closing date: for the current intakes, study-permit and conditions-met documents are due 10/15 August 2026 (Fall), 9/15 December 2026 (Winter) and 5/15 April 2027 (Summer); missing a deadline can mean deferral to the next intake. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
