Certificate in Indigenous Environmental Management

The Certificate in Indigenous Environmental Management is a 30-credit-hour program within First Nations University of Canada's Indigenous Knowledge and Science area. It combines science coursework in fields such as biology, chemistry, and Indigenous environmental science with the knowledge of Elders and Knowledge Keepers, blending conventional scientific methods with Indigenous perspectives on the environment. The certificate is available at the Regina Campus and, online and remotely, through the Northern Campus. Admission requires a minimum 70% average in English Language Arts A30, English Language Arts B30, Pre-Calculus 30, and two of Biology 30, Calculus 30, Chemistry 30, Computer Science 30, Earth Science 30, or Physics 30. Graduates are prepared for roles in environmental assessment, land development, environmental education, and health-impact and mining-related environmental work, and the certificate can also serve as a foundation for further study within the Indigenous Knowledge and Science programs.
