Overview
These four semesters (two years) give students the knowledge and skills required for professionals who make a difference every day in the lives of children, youth and adults who have disabilities, and their support network, at home and in their communities. This includes specific skills to support people with disabilities in schools, recreation, mental health and addictions, the justice system, employment support and other places in our communities. Students also have the option to focus more on First nations, Inuit and Metis peoples through the Indigenous Perspectives Designation. Admission Requirements: Admission requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) including Grade 12 College (C) English, with the majority of courses at College (C) or Open (O) level unless otherwise stated; applicants 19 or older without an OSSD may write the Skillsmarker assessment, with additional testing or upgrading possibly required. The programme page states no English-proficiency test score; Fleming College's institution-wide tier for diploma and certificate programs applies: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall (no band below 5.5), TOEFL iBT 80, Duolingo 105, or PTE Academic 46. International applicants submit an equivalent secondary credential, certified with notarized English translations where needed, per Fleming's general admission requirements. Mandatory pre-entry immunization documentation applies by specified deadlines, and non-academic requirements may include a criminal reference check and First Aid/CPR-C certification; a G driver's licence is recommended though not required.
