Community ServicesHeather George: Museum Management and Curatorship (2008)Heather George is an influential leader in the Canadian museum sector. As Executive Director of the Woodland Cultural Centre, she advocates for Indigenous perspectives and creates opportunities for Indigenous artists and curators. As the Past President of the Canadian Museum Association and current Vice President for the Indigenous Heritage Circle, Heather advances the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Call to Action #67, urging museums to engage in reconciliation with Indigenous peoples. In 2021, she led a national review of museum policies in relation to the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). This review involved Indigenous communities and museum professionals, culminating in recommendations to change sector standards and develop federal repatriation laws.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) including Grade 12 College (C) English and Grade 11 C Mathematics (Grade 12 C Mathematics is recommended but not required), with the majority of courses at College (C) or Open (O) level unless otherwise stated; applicants 19 or older without an OSSD may write the Canadian Adult Achievement Test, and additional testing or upgrading may be required for specific course prerequisites. The programme page states no English-proficiency test score; Fleming College's institution-wide tier for diploma and certificate programs applies: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall (no band below 5.5), TOEFL iBT 80, Duolingo 105, or PTE Academic 46. International applicants submit an equivalent secondary credential, certified with notarized English translations where needed, per Fleming's general admission requirements.
