Overview
Students now have the opportunity to complete two college diplomas - Social Service Worker and Mental Health and Addiction - within a two-year period. This pathway includes two field placement opportunities where students acquire additional hands-on experience to further prepare them for career success. All students start in either the Social Service Worker or Mental Health and Addictions Worker program, and then mid-way through their first semester declare their intention to remain in their program or change to Dual Pathway program which allows students to complete both diplomas. Students who wish to do so, complete the Dual Pathway online application form at that time and would begin in that program starting their second semester.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma including Grade 12 College (C) English, with the majority of credits at College (C) or Open (O) level; Grade 12 C courses are accepted where a Grade 11 C course is listed, and University/Mixed (U/M) courses are accepted where a College-level course is listed. Applicants aged 19 or older without an OSSD may write the Skillsmarker assessment. The programme also requires a criminal reference check, vulnerable-sector screening, and current First Aid and CPR-C certification ahead of placement. The programme page sets no language requirement of its own, so Fleming's institution-wide English proficiency standard for diploma and certificate programmes applies: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 80, Duolingo English Test 105, or PTE Academic 46, or completion of Level 8 of Fleming's own English Language Bridge programme.
