Overview

The Indigenous Perspectives Designation (IPD) is an option available to students in this program. To qualify for an IPD, you must take and successfully complete a series of required Indigenous Studies courses as well as participate in a minimum of four approved co-curricular Indigenous events or experiences. Your transcript will indicate the IPD upon graduation, a designation that provides you with a comprehensive understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, traditions, and contributions to our shared society within the context of your program of study. The IPD provides a valuable skill set sought after in today's employment sector.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) including Grade 12 College (C) English. Applicants aged 19+ without an OSSD may write the Skillsmarker assessment; academic upgrading may be required for specific prerequisites. Mandatory criminal reference checks and immunizations (flu and COVID) must be completed by the college's specified deadlines before placement components can begin; the program also directs applicants to review the Ontario Constable Selection System's physical, vision and hearing requirements.

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: for full-time programmes starting in the 2027 fall intake the equal-consideration date is 1 February 2027, and Fleming also runs a January start; applications received after 1 February are processed first-come, first-served until programmes are full. International applicants apply via the OCAS International Application Service to the September, January or May intake and face no fixed deadline; Fleming instead recommends applying between six weeks and five months before the intended start depending on home country, and processes files on a rolling basis with offers typically issued within 5-10 business days. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
