Program details

Overview

Graphic Design (G102) is a three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma at George Brown College's School of Design. The first three semesters build foundations in design principles, typography, production and digital applications; from the fourth semester students specialize in either Communication Design or Advertising Design, with electives spanning illustration, motion graphics, interaction design, web design, editorial design and environmental design. Intensive studio projects lead to a final-year thesis or major project plus professional practice classes that prepare graduates for corporate design and advertising agency careers.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, including Grade 12 English at the C or U level; alternatively, applicants may be accepted on completion of George Brown's Art and Design Foundation certificate (G108) with an overall grade point average of 3.5 or higher, though seats are limited and admission is not guaranteed on that route. Applicants 19 or older without an OSSD may apply as mature students and sit George Brown's Admissions Assessment for English, or upgrade to obtain the needed credit. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission given competitive demand. College or university credits may qualify for course exemptions through the Transfer Guide. International applicants should consult George Brown's International Admissions page for English-proficiency requirements.
