Overview

Delivered by the Angelo DelZotto School of Construction Management at George Brown Polytechnic's Casa Loma Campus, the Honours Bachelor of Technology (Construction Management) is a four-year degree combining construction engineering and technology coursework with business and management training. The college describes it as Ontario's first four-year degree program dedicated to construction management, developed with industry input to address the sector's need for managers who can bridge technical and business skills. Later semesters shift from fully on-campus delivery toward blended and hybrid formats. A mandatory field-experience semester takes place in the spring or summer of the third year, requiring students to complete a minimum of four hundred and fifty hours of relevant construction-management fieldwork, either through a dedicated field-experience course or through recognition of equivalent prior experience via the college's Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition process. Graduates receive the academic designation Honours Bachelor of Technology (Construction Management) and become eligible for Gold Seal Certification through the Canadian Construction Association, supporting roles such as certified superintendent, estimator, project manager, and safety practitioner. Given its laptop-dependent coursework, the program recommends students arrange a suitably powerful computer and reliable home internet. It suits students seeking to manage construction projects from planning through completion rather than perform hands-on trade work.
