Overview

Kwantlen Polytechnic University's Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Degree Completion for Registered Nurses gives licensed registered nurses in British Columbia a direct route to a KPU Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Admitted students enter Semester 6 of the standard BSN curriculum and complete the equivalent of three semesters of full-time study, covering Term 6 (Health Promotion and Community Empowerment), Term 7 (Societal Health), and Term 8 (Transitions), for a minimum of 41.5 credits. Diploma graduates of a Collaborative Nursing Program in British Columbia may be admitted directly, while other registered nurses complete an individual assessment and the access course NRSG 3190 within two years of entry. Students must hold current, practising membership with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals throughout the program and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.33 with no grade below C in required courses. Prior learning credit may be available for equivalent experience or continuing education, at the student's own cost. Graduates receive a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission is based on seat availability and requires the Faculty of Health's Admission Requirements (KPU's undergraduate English Proficiency Requirement) plus completion of a Collaborative Nursing Program diploma in BC, or an individual assessment and the NRSG 3190 access course completed within two years of entry. Applicants must hold current, practising membership with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals throughout the program, submit an official transcript showing completion of a nursing diploma, complete ENGL 1100 and ENGL 1202 (or equivalent, 6 credits) plus two further undergraduate electives (6 credits), and hold current Canadian CPR Level C certification. An interview and/or letters of reference may be requested; immunization records are required before clinical placement.
