Overview
The Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology (BTech in IT) program allows you to earn a bachelor degree that prepares you for employment in the IT industry in Canada or for graduate school. Courses are offered so that students can focus on network administration and security or mobile and web application development based on their interests and career goals.
The Bachelor of Technology – Information Technology degree is offered with a Co-operative Education option. Co-operative Education gives a student the opportunity to apply the skills gained during academic study in paid, practical work experience semesters. Degree students can complete a minimum of three work terms while completing their degree.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: The Faculty requirement here is KPU's undergraduate English Proficiency Requirement, set out in the university's own admission requirements. On top of it this programme asks for: Level E1 of KPU's Mathematics Alternatives Table, which is met by Pre-Calculus 11 at C, Foundations of Mathematics 11 at C+, IB Mathematics Analysis and Approaches SL or Applications and Interpretation SL at 3 (treated as C+), MATQ 1089 at C+, or a Math Placement Test score of 46 or above. That is the only subject prerequisite the calendar sets for this degree beyond the English standard, but the programme is Limited Intake, so seats are capped and meeting the minimum does not guarantee admission. The degree needs at least 120 credits of required courses and electives; the co-operative education version adds a further 28 credits of co-op. KPU's calendar page sets out these requirements without separating domestic from international applicants, so the same standard applies to both.

Under the Senate-approved 2026-27 schedule Fall runs 8 September to 17 December 2026, Spring 6 January to 28 April 2027 and Summer 10 May to 24 August 2027.
Application Deadline:KPU classifies this as a Limited Intake programme: the number of seats is capped, applications are assessed against one another, and meeting the published minimums does not guarantee admission. The University Calendar lists this programme with Fall (September), Spring (January) and Summer (May) starts, so only the windows below apply to it; KPU's institution-wide Limited Intake timetable also covers terms this programme does not admit into. FALL (SEPTEMBER) INTAKE: applications open on 1 October of the previous year and the Limited Intake deadline is 1 March, so the Fall 2027 window runs 1 October 2026 to 1 March 2027; offers to domestic applicants (Canadian citizens and permanent residents) begin in November and offers to international applicants in late January. SPRING (JANUARY) INTAKE: applications open 1 February and close 1 August, with offers from early April for both applicant types. SUMMER (MAY) INTAKE: applications open 1 June and close 1 December, with offers from early August. Some Limited Intake programmes close early when demand is high, and others extend the deadline when seats remain - the current extension list is at kpu.ca/admission/deadlines-extended. KPU notes that selected Limited Intake programmes may still consider domestic applicants after the term's final application date (1 July for Fall, 1 November for Spring and 1 March for Summer); international applicants get no such latitude, because KPU accepts nothing after those same dates.
