Overview
This 30-credit certificate program provides graduates with diverse computing knowledge to meet the computer and information system needs of organizations of all sizes. The program is designed to provide graduates with a solid foundation in computer systems and user support, network administration, and systems design. The Computer Information Systems programs (CISY) offer a unique practitioner-oriented approach to systems support and software development. Computer Information Systems courses are offered by the Computer Science and Information Technology department.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission to the Certificate is only open to students already admitted to the Diploma in Computer Information Systems or the Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology, so the Diploma's own entry conditions govern this Certificate as well. On top of KPU's undergraduate English Proficiency Requirement (BC English Studies 12, English First Peoples 12 or Literary Studies 12 at C+ or better, or a standardized test taken within two years such as IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band under 6.0, TOEFL iBT 88 with no section under 20, PTE 61, or Duolingo 110), the Diploma page requires satisfying the math requirement at Level E1 of KPU's Mathematics Alternatives Table. The Certificate's own page states no further condition of its own beyond this prior admission.

Under the Senate-approved 2026-27 schedule Fall runs 8 September to 17 December 2026, Spring 6 January to 28 April 2027 and Summer 10 May to 24 August 2027.
Application Deadline:KPU classifies this as a Limited Intake programme: the number of seats is capped, applications are assessed against one another, and meeting the published minimums does not guarantee admission. The University Calendar lists this programme with Fall (September), Spring (January) and Summer (May) starts, so only the windows below apply to it; KPU's institution-wide Limited Intake timetable also covers terms this programme does not admit into. FALL (SEPTEMBER) INTAKE: applications open on 1 October of the previous year and the Limited Intake deadline is 1 March, so the Fall 2027 window runs 1 October 2026 to 1 March 2027; offers to domestic applicants (Canadian citizens and permanent residents) begin in November and offers to international applicants in late January. SPRING (JANUARY) INTAKE: applications open 1 February and close 1 August, with offers from early April for both applicant types.
