Overview
Ce baccalauréat spécialisé en biotechnologie, d'une durée de quatre ans, est offert sur le campus d'Ottawa de La Cité et couvre un large éventail de sphères de la discipline, dont les sciences biomédicales, la biopharmaceutique, le génie génétique, la bioinformatique, les sciences judiciaires, la chimie de synthèse, la biochimie ainsi que la microbiologie industrielle, agroalimentaire et environnementale. L'enseignement, dispensé par des professeurs et technologues expérimentés, donne accès à des laboratoires hautement spécialisés et au BIOlab du Collège, et repose sur le mentorat, l'apprentissage par cas et par problème afin d'arrimer théorie et pratique en laboratoire. Le cheminement comprend un stage en milieu de travail et se termine par un projet de recherche scientifique permettant aux finissants de se faire valoir auprès d'employeurs. Une option coop est aussi proposée : en réalisant un second stage optionnel, l'étudiant obtient la mention COOP à son diplôme, au Canada ou à l'étranger. Le grade, de type spécialisé, est reconnu au niveau d'un baccalauréat universitaire avec spécialisation et ouvre la voie à des études de maîtrise ou de doctorat. Admission Requirements: This programme is highly competitive and capacity-limited: applications are assessed from May 1, with offers issued by mid-May. Candidates need general computer literacy, including internet use, and an up-to-date immunization record before the term starts. Ontario applicants need the OSSD or equivalent (or the mature-applicant test for those 19 and over) plus six Grade 12 U/M courses averaged at 65% or better, including one of MHF4U/MCV4U/MDM4U and one of SCH4U, SBI4U, SPH4U or SES4U; a missing elective course can be completed over the summer. Quebec applicants need five Secondary 5 courses at 84% including mathematics and a science course, or a completed cégep year at 65% including Mathematics 201. New Brunswick applicants need five Grade 12 courses at 65% including mathematics and a science course. International applicants need a secondary diploma or proof of final-year enrolment plus six terminale-equivalent courses, including Biology, averaged at 65%. Instruction is in French, and bilingual ability helps with English-language texts and placements.
