BA/BS in Genomics

Simon Fraser University's Genomics certificate, offered by the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry in the Faculty of Science, covers the multidisciplinary study of genomics, drawing on molecular genetics, chemistry, physics, computer science, and engineering to generate and analyze large-scale DNA and protein sequence data alongside genome function. The certificate requires 31 units in total: 22 required units and 9 elective units chosen from an approved list. Students must first gain admission to the university, then obtain approval from the Molecular Biology and Biochemistry Program Coordinator for formal acceptance into the certificate, typically recommended on completion of MBB 342. A minimum 2.0 grade point average across all required and elective courses applied to the certificate is required, along with a grade of C- or better in each of those courses to graduate with the certificate. Credits applied to the certificate cannot also be applied to another certificate or diploma.
