The Baccalaureat en genie biotechnologique is a full-time, cooperative-education bachelor's degree in engineering at Universite de Sherbrooke, admitting students each fall at the Sherbrooke campus. Over 121 credits, students build a foundation in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biochemistry and biology before applying chemical- and process-engineering principles to the design, simulation, scale-up and operation of biotechnological processes involving living organisms and their derivatives. The curriculum integrates paid co-op work terms with academic semesters and includes coursework in process instrumentation, control, project design and life-cycle analysis, along with training in workplace health, safety and biosafety. Students may pursue an integrated pathway into the Maitrise en genie chimique, or an international profile allowing up to a full year of co-op study abroad. The programme is recognized by a professional engineering order and addresses sustainable-development principles throughout. It admits international students, with paid co-op placements available to them, and leads to a Bachelière ou bachelier en ingenierie.
