Overview
Ce programme prépare à jouer un rôle de premier plan en presse écrite, à la radio, à la télévision et dans les nouveaux médias. La formation porte sur l'écriture de presse, la recherche et la démarche journalistique, la production de journaux et de bulletins de nouvelles pour la radio, la télévision et Internet, la rédaction d'articles de fond, le photojournalisme, la mise en page et le travail de vidéaste. La personne diplômée peut occuper un poste de journaliste-reporter, rédacteur, recherchiste, pupitreur ou vidéo-reporter. Un cheminement DECO-BAC conjoint en journalisme avec l'Université d'Ottawa permet d'ajouter deux années pour obtenir un baccalauréat. La Cité est le seul collège à offrir ce programme en français en Ontario.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Domestic applicants need the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), the Quebec DES, or the New Brunswick DES (or La Cité's mature-applicant test for candidates 19 or over without a diploma), plus a named French course: Ontario asks for FRA3C or FRA3U, Quebec for course 132406 or 128486 or the equivalent, and New Brunswick for course 10331 or the equivalent. No numeric French-proficiency test score is set for this route; La Cité's institution-wide language-test page instead sets a minimum of 375 points (written comprehension) on the TCF or 352 points on the TEF for applicants who must otherwise demonstrate French competency, such as candidates without a recognised French-medium diploma. International applicants qualify by holding a baccalaureate or secondary diploma, or by being in their final year of secondary school with proof of enrolment. La Cité states its admission process is competitive because of limited capacity and that admission is never guaranteed even when every published requirement is met.
