Overview
Cette formation prépare à une carrière policière par l'étude du système de justice canadien, de l'éthique policière, du Code criminel, de la sécurité routière et des techniques d'enquête et d'interrogation, complétée par le conditionnement physique et les techniques d'autodéfense. Les laboratoires de simulation de l'Institut 911 — scène de rue, conduite préventive, simulations d'interventions policières, appartement et poste de police — soutiennent la pratique, et un projet intégrateur à la quatrième étape mène jusqu'au tribunal-école de La Cité. Le diplômé peut poser sa candidature dans les services de police partout au Canada, sauf les services municipaux et provincial du Québec.

Admission Requirements: Listed by La Cité as Services policiers et sécurité communautaire. Domestic entry — Ontario, Quebec or New Brunswick: the provincial secondary-school diploma or an equivalent, or pass the mature-applicant test if you are 19 or over. International applicants must hold a secondary-school diploma or baccalaureate, or be in their final secondary year with proof of enrolment; La Cité states that admission is competitive because places are limited and is never guaranteed. The college notes that policing demands a high level of physical fitness and recommends applicants have a full medical examination including audiometry, vision and colour-vision testing; poor health, a physical problem or a criminal record can prevent a graduate being hired in policing. A good knowledge of English is desirable. Students who start in January take stage 1 from January to April and stage 2 from May to August.
