Overview
The Diploma in Applied Social Sciences and Humanities (DASSH) is a two-year programme combining core social sciences and humanities courses with elective options, preparing students to enter the workforce or transfer into related degree programmes. The curriculum blends theoretical, experiential, and technical learning, building skills in digital media, software use, and financial literacy; in the final semester students complete an applied project with an external client. Core courses are selected for relevance to careers in business, law, journalism, government, communications, public administration, the non-profit sector, and information technology and management. Graduates can communicate effectively across formats, interpret data and financial statements, evaluate information sources, and apply research methods and ethical decision-making. Courses are offered full-time and in-person, with intakes in September, January, and May. As of the Fall 2025 semester, admissions to the diploma are suspended until further notice.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Domestic applicants need BC Grade 12 graduation (or equivalent) or must be 19 years of age or older; international applicants need BC Grade 12 graduation or the equivalent. The English language requirement is Category 3, met through English 12 (or equivalent) with a minimum of 50%, or an approved English proficiency assessment. Admission to a program does not guarantee registration into required courses, and students admitted on the basis of an English proficiency assessment may need to take one or more additional English courses to meet course prerequisites.
