Overview
Langara Continuing Studies runs this part-time Professional Accounting certificate for people building accounting and finance management careers without necessarily pursuing the full CPA designation. It pairs accounting subjects with general business coursework and information technology tools, and is designed to develop the knowledge and skills needed to communicate, manage and lead in a business environment. Courses are recognised by the Chartered Professional Accountants of BC. Study is available in person and online, with January, May and September start dates and a minimum duration of 16 months. Students who have completed relevant coursework elsewhere can apply it toward prerequisites or exemptions with the appropriate documentation. Those aiming squarely at CPA eligibility are pointed instead to Langara's Advanced Accounting Diploma.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: This Professional Accounting Certificate page sets no admission criteria of its own: it states only that students with prior post-secondary coursework may request prerequisite or exemption approval via transcripts and an Exemption/Prerequisite Approval Form, and that international applicants must comply with Langara's general Academic, English Proficiency, and Study Permit requirements. Per Langara's institution-wide admission requirements, domestic applicants need BC Grade 12 graduation (or equivalent) or to be 19 years of age or older, and international applicants need BC Grade 12 graduation (or equivalent). All applicants must meet Langara's English Language Proficiency baseline: English Studies 12, English First Peoples 12, or Literary Studies 12 at 50%, or IELTS Academic 6.5, Duolingo English Test 110, TOEFL iBT 80 (Writing 20, Reading 20, Listening 18, Speaking 18), CAEL 60, or PTE Academic 56, or four years of full-time study in an English-language school system.

Admission is otherwise rolling. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
