Kinesiology (PhD)

The PhD in Kinesiology at McMaster University, offered through McMaster's School of Graduate Studies, is a research-oriented program offering study in human performance physiology, exercise rehabilitation, motor behaviour and control, health psychology, and biomechanics. Research areas include pediatric exercise physiology, exercise and health psychology, biomechanics, exercise physiology, exercise rehabilitation, motor control and learning, cardiovascular physiology, molecular biology, nutrition and metabolism, sensorimotor control, and neuromuscular plasticity, spanning physiological, psychological, and biomechanical approaches to the study of human movement and health. The program is offered full-time, over a nominal length of four years, with typical entry in September, and culminates in a dissertation defended before an examination committee. Students conduct original research developing advanced expertise in human movement and health science. The credential awarded is a Doctor of Philosophy in Kinesiology.
