The Master of Public Health (MPH) gives students a broad foundation in public and population health science, covering policy analysis, research methodology, and public health infrastructure and policy development, with research areas including public health policy and management, population and public health research methods, and environmental health. Two completion tracks are offered: a practicum-based track of sixteen months and a thesis-based track of twenty to twenty-four months, and the program can be taken full-time or part-time. Admission requires a four-year undergraduate degree in the sciences or an equivalent background; the program typically begins in September, with an October application deadline noted on the page. The program is based in the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University's Hamilton campus and suits students preparing for professional roles within Canada's public health system, aiming to build the knowledge, skills, and mentored experience relevant to that field.
