Environmental Physics at Memorial University is a Bachelor of Science major, offered with honours, that examines the Earth's environment through the lens of physics, drawing on mechanics, electricity and magnetism, thermodynamics and atomic physics to explain natural systems. The program is housed in the Department of Physics and Physical Oceanography and combines core physics coursework with applications to atmospheric, oceanic and environmental processes. The four-year degree prepares graduates for roles in environmental monitoring, atmospheric or oceanographic research, and further graduate study in physics, environmental science or oceanography. Environmental Physics is a limited-enrolment major, so students cannot select it at the time of initial application; they are admitted to the Faculty of Science first and apply separately to declare the major once eligible. The program is delivered on the St. John's campus.
