Human Biosciences at Memorial University is a Bachelor of Science major, offered with honours, that examines how food, drugs and the environment affect human health through an interdisciplinary lens spanning biochemistry, nutrition, pharmacology and toxicology. Students choose one of four concentrations: biochemistry, health and disease, molecular genetics, or nutrition and metabolism, tailoring the degree to their area of interest within the biosciences. The four-year program prepares graduates for roles in health research, laboratory science, nutrition or pharmaceutical-related fields, and for further study in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy or graduate biosciences programs. Students are admitted to the Faculty of Science under general admission requirements and later declare the Human Biosciences major, which requires completing a minimum of 24 credit hours, including Chemistry 1050 and 1051, Mathematics 1000 or 1006, and Biology 1001 with Biology 1002 or Human Biosciences 1001, with a minimum overall average of 60%. The program is delivered on the St. John's campus.
