Overview

The Master of Data Science (MDSc) is a course-based graduate program at Memorial University, jointly delivered by the Departments of Mathematics and Statistics and Computer Science. The program equips students with foundational data science methods and practical techniques for analyzing data and informing decision-making across disciplines. It runs as a one-year, full-time program made up of ten courses together with a case-study series and a capstone project, and is completed on the St. John's campus. Before beginning the first semester, admitted students who have not already covered the required background complete three non-credit online propaedeutic courses in areas such as calculus, statistics and programming. The curriculum draws on statistical and computational training from both contributing departments, preparing graduates for roles that apply quantitative and programming skills to real-world data problems in industry, government and research settings. New students are admitted for the Fall semester only.
