Master of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) is a thesis-based graduate program in Memorial University's Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, offered alongside a PhD in the same discipline. Students combine graduate coursework with a research thesis in areas such as computer-aided design, controls, corrosion, fatigue and fracture mechanics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, integrity assessment, materials, mechanical design, mechatronics, product development, resource utilization, robotics, structural dynamics, vision systems, biomechanics, and occupational health. Research facilities include automation, controls, fluids, heat-transfer and structures laboratories, along with a low-speed wind tunnel, SEM/XRD materials-characterization equipment, a multiphase flow loop, a wave/tow tank, and machine-vision systems. The MEng normally takes two years of full-time study to complete. It is intended for engineering graduates seeking applied research training in mechanical engineering ahead of industry careers or further graduate study, and is based on Memorial's St. John's campus.
