The Master of Science in Geography combines graduate coursework with an original research thesis and can normally be completed in two years of full-time study. Like Memorial's MA in Geography, the program supports research across climatology, cultural, historical, and economic geography, geographic information systems, geomorphology, Quaternary studies, regional development, remote sensing, and resource management. Students work closely with faculty supervisors to design and carry out an independent thesis project within one of these specializations. The degree is offered on the St. John's campus, admits students for Fall entry, and prepares graduates for further doctoral study, research careers, and positions in government, environmental management, and other fields requiring advanced geographic analysis skills. Graduates commonly go on to careers in academia, government agencies, or environmental and planning consultancies.
